Topping-out Ceremony for the P3/P4 Project for the Construction of the United Microelectronics Corporation (Singapore Branch) 12” Wafer Fab Successfully Completed (to be provided by the Education Center/R&D Center)

The P3/P4 joint-contracted project for the construction of the United Microelectronics Corporation (Singapore Branch) (“UMC Singapore”) 12” Wafer Fab, jointly undertaken by L&K Engineering Singapore (responsible for mechanical and electrical, process, and cleanroom engineering) and L&K Engineering (Taiwan) Singapore (responsible for construction and subcontracting as designated by the Owner), has achieved an important milestone. On December 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. local time, the topping-out ceremony took place at Fab 12i Wafer Fab Area in the Pasir Ris Wafer Park, for the expansion of the Fab 12i P3/P4 facility. The topping-out ceremony was presided over by Mr. Xu Zhiqing, Deputy General Manager of UMC Singapore, who officiated the ceremony. The attendees offered incense and prayers for the successful construction of the Project and left their signatures on the beams as a memento. The ceremony was simple yet grand, witnessing the achievement of a significant milestone in the construction of the new facility.

Mr. Yao Zuxiang, Chairman of L&K Engineering, along with company executives, some employees, and representatives from various system suppliers, gathered at the site to celebrate this major P3/P4 project for the construction of the UMC Singapore 12” Wafer Fab. The guests witnessed the integration advantages and technical strength of L&K Engineering in the international engineering market. 

As a key construction project for L&K Engineering in recent years, the Company has invested sufficient technical manpower to lead cooperation with existing domestic equipment/material suppliers and labor subcontractors, ensuring the smooth progress of the Project in terms of schedule and quality. The celebration of the topping-out ceremony not only affirms the achievements of this phase of construction and the Project team but also provides motivation for the next phase of advancement. L&K Engineering will continue to efficiently and comprehensively advance the construction of the Project, striving to achieve the goal of equipment installation for the second phase of the Owner’s process.

L&K Engineering has instituted an engineering personnel training center, encompassing practical training modules in interior decoration, power supply, instrumentation/low voltage, air conditioning, and process. From theoretical instruction to practical training, we provide “engineering novices” with a preliminary understanding of the project management process and the basic construction methods of various disciplines. This enables new engineering personnel to be quickly trained, enhances the on-the-job practical experience of existing personnel, and boosts the professional learning confidence of the trainees. Furthermore, the Company offers employees an advanced training platform for higher-level and multi-disciplinary commissioning. This allows for further learning in areas such as integrated system commissioning, troubleshooting of anomalies and faults, and knowledge of AMC sampling and vibration analysis.
